Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality was based on the principle that Internet service providers must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. As of December 14th, the FCC voted along party lines, 3-2 to abolish this principle. The ramifications of this decision has yet to be seen, however, critics of the dismantling of consumer protections in this fashion see this as the first step at allowing  Internet Service Providers (ISP) to systematically begin carving up the World Wide Web, the planet's proverbial information highway, into virtual slow lanes and fast lanes. Soon only those with enough money or influence will be able to continue enjoying the web, while others suffer.
